Chris is a specialist in company and commercial law with particular expertise in franchising and licensing.

In the general commercial arena, Chris advises a broad range of medium and large companies on commercial issues from start-ups, joint ventures, restructuring and property contracts, including commercial leasing through to intellectual property issues as well as purchase sales agreements and mergers.

He also has substantial specialist knowledge and experience in banking and finance, as well as insolvency and recovery, having in the past acted for banks, finance companies and equity lenders, and advised on some high-profile insolvencies.

Chris contributes to the bank of documents which the Auckland District Law Society (ADLS) sells to other lawyers. Chris is the author of the standard franchise license and shareholders agreements and the new agreement for sale and purchase of shares.

Working closely with a specialist tax advisor Chris recently revised the Auckland District Law Society’s template Sale and Purchase of a Business form. This form is used in most business sale transactions across New Zealand.

Chris is a member of Rotary International, he is past President of the Ellerslie Sunrise Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. Chris has also recently joined the board of Macular Degeneration New Zealand.
